About this thing they call the Internet
None of us really know the long term effects of the Internet. Will comments we posted when we were 17 still be floating around when we are 65? Will our defunct websites still show up because of some merger that took away our ability to delete our own site? Will sites like Facebook make it easier for abusive exes to stalk us? Do I really want the whole world knowing what high school I went to, when my birthday is and how many kids I had or didn't have? Do I want those kids growing up and reading my blogs? It all becomes so very complicated.

If another country overthrows ours, will the information be used to hold us political prisoners? Scary thought. Already military personnel have had their blogs frozen for letting slip what could be defamatory information or just too much information about some military action.

Gone are the days when we could say,"I'll post whatever I want. No one out there knows me anyway."
